29 Οκτ 2024 · Ninja- cash is no longer king (has not been since the 1990s). the Japanese LOVE their credit cards as much as Americans. Amex, Visa and Mastercard are WIDELY accepted everywhere. You can use your Amex at the 7-11, inside a taxi cab, retailers, EVERYWHERE.

8 Αυγ 2024 · Yes, like most ppl replied, Amex is accepted in almost all places that accept credit cards. In fact, their exchange rate (yen to US $) is better than my Chase Visa cards. My Amex does not have any currency conversion fee.

American Express can be frustrating. We used it in Tokyo and Kyoto quiet a bit. Only issue was several times our transaction was blocked until we verified it. I called AMEX prior to traveling and advised them I am traveling. Luckily their is free WiFi to check your email to verify.
