4 Φεβ 2019 · A Note on Book Reviews. The American Historical Review tries to review as many historiographical monographs as possible. Of the over 2,200–2,500 books a year that we receive, we usually prove able to review slightly more than one-third. The figure for 2018 was 35.1 percent.
Each issue presents in-depth reviews of over thirty of the newest books in American history—reviews that are far superior to those found in other scholarly journals. Retrospective essays examining landmark works by major historians are also regularly featured.
