Bar-wrapped concrete cylinder pipe (CCP) is a semi- rigid pressure pipe designed as a composite structure combining the tensile strength of steel with the compressive strength and corrosion–inhibiting properties of portland cement mortar. Components of CCP are shown in Figure 1.
Reinforced concrete pressure pipe, steel-cylinder type, is designed for the specific combination of internal pressure and external load required for the project in accordance with the procedures outlined in AWWA Manual M9, Concrete Pressure Pipe .

2 Αυγ 2020 · Bar-Wrapped Concrete Cylinder Pipe (CCP) combines a steel cylinder lined with cement mortar, reinforced with helically wrapped mild steel bar, and coated with dense cement mortar. It unites the inherent strength of steel and the passivating characteristics of cement-mortar linings and coatings for long-term protection against corrosion.
Bar-Wrapped Pipe combines the physical strength of steel with the structural and protective properties of high strength cement mortar. A round, mild steel bar is helically wound around the steel cylinder and all surfaces are encased in cement mortar. This composite pipe reacts as a unit when resisting internal pressure and external loads.
This standard describes bar-wrapped steel-cylinder concrete pressure pipe in sizes ranging from 10 in. through 72 in. (250 mm through 1,830 mm) in diameter, which is the prevailing range in sizes.
