It contains mainly fibers from the anterior rami of spinal nerves C8 and T1, but may sometimes carry C7 fibers as well. From its origin, the ulnar nerve courses distally through the axilla, arm and forearm into the hand.

The ulnar nerve is a nerve that runs near the ulna, one of the two long bones in the forearm. The ulnar collateral ligament of elbow joint is in relation with the ulnar nerve. The nerve is the largest in the human body unprotected by muscle or bone, so injury is common. [1] .
Ulnar nerve compression at the elbow is called cubital tunnel syndrome. Numbness and tingling in the pinky and ring fingers are common symptoms of cubital tunnel syndrome. In most cases, symptoms can be managed with nonsurgical treatments like changes in activities and bracing.
