Geb (Ancient Egyptian: gbb, Egyptological pronunciation: Gebeb), also known as Ceb (/ ˈsɛb /, / ˈkɛb /), [a] was the Egyptian god of the Earth [1] and a mythological member of the Ennead of Heliopolis. He could also be considered a father of snakes.
Geb, god of the earth, stretches out below the sky-goddess Nut, who arches overhead. They are separated by the god of air, Shu, who is supported in this task. The deceased kneels to the lower right, accompanied by her ba-spirit and surrounded by groups of gods.
Geb was the third divine pharaoh, reigning after his father, Shu, and before Osiris. He also supported Horus’ right to the throne following the death of Osiris. As the Egyptians believed that the pharaoh was the living image of Horus, the pharaoh was sometimes known as the “Heir of Geb”.

Geb represented the earth and its fertility, and, over time, came to be associated with rituals surrounding death and rebirth, given that he was the final resting of all living beings.
