Various alternatives to the use of animals have been suggested, such as in vitro models, cell cultures, computer models, and new imaging/analyzing techniques (Balls, 2002). The in vitro models provide the opportunity to study the cellular response in a closed system, where the experimental conditions are maintained.
These models can be employed as reliable alternatives to animal testing for identifying potential eye irritant/corrosive compounds.
1 Ιαν 2022 · Computer-based modeling and screening, conventional chemical laboratory experiments, in vitro cell-free extract-based methods, cell-based 2D and 3D assay systems, and tissues excised from spent animals or human donors are some of the approaches to alternative toxicological screening.
1 Ιουλ 2015 · Various alternatives to animal use have been suggested, which need to be implemented in an effective manner. For this integration of various computer models, bioinformatics tools, in vitro cell cultures, enzymatic screens and model organisms are necessary. Use of modern analytical techniques, data acquisition and statistical procedures to ...
In silico modelling, in vitro assays, high-throughput screening, organ-on-a-chip technology, omics and mathematical biology, can provide complementary information to develop a complete picture of the potential response of an organism to a chemical stressor. Adverse outcome pathways (AOPs) and systems biology frameworks enable relevant ...
26 Φεβ 2020 · 17 December 2021. We review the accelerating development of computer-based approaches to replace animal tests. A new article by our science team, which reviews the development of computer-based techniques to replace animal tests over the past two decades, has been published in the scientific journal Computational Toxicology.
