Plot. Annie is a 1982 American musical comedy-drama film based on the 1977 Broadway musical of the same name by Charles Strouse, Martin Charnin and Thomas Meehan, which in turn is based on the Little Orphan Annie comic strip created by Harold Gray.
Synopsis. In Harlem, Manhattan Island, N.Y.C, Annie Bennett (Quvenzhane Wallis) lives in foster care with several other girls under the care of Colleen Hannigan (Cameron Diaz), a bitter former singer of C+C Music Factory, who spends her days drinking or trying to find a husband.
Young orphan Annie has lived a hard knock life in an anything but happy orphanage run by the ruthless matriarch Miss Agatha Hannigan. She quietly escapes her orphanage and sets out to find her parents, who she believe will claim her as their own with a broken locket.
Annie. In 1933, after the Great Depression, a young orphan named Annie Bennett is living in the Hudson St. Home for Girls in New York City, which is run by Miss Hannigan, a cruel alcoholic who forces the orphans to clean the building daily.
Annie is a 2014 musical dramedy adapted from the play with the same title by Charles Strouse which in turn bears some inspiration from the comic book series Little Orphan Annie. It is the second remake and third movie adaptation following the 1982 and 1999 adaptations.
