Ophthalmic medications containing neomycin and carbonic anhydrase inhibitors are among the medications most commonly associated with drug reaction conjunctivitis in dogs and cats.
The anterior uvea consists of the iris, ciliary body, and anterior chamber (or iridocorneal) angle. Anterior uveitis or iridocyclitis is commonly diagnosed in dogs and cats but is observed in other species as well. It may be confused with other inflammatory conditions of the cornea or conjunctiva.
NSAIDs are useful in cases of mild anterior uveitis (including reflex uveitis) or when systemic infection is suspected. Options for dogs are numerous; a few examples are included in TABLE 2. Options for cats are more limited.
