The milk teeth are white, and the permanent teeth (which erupt at 2 ½ to 5 years of age) that replace them are cream-yellow. With increasing age they turn brown (20 years plus).
1 Ιαν 2020 · White, unstained teeth are often modern. Unless there is clearly fossilized bone attached you really can't tell. My suspicion though is that many of the horse teeth are ancient based on the number of mineralized horse jaws I've seen vs modern.
Aging the horse by its teeth is not an exact science, but changes do occur that can help determine approximate age, and anyone can learn the basics. To use as a reference guide, Figures 1 and 2 indicate the names of the teeth.

Aging Horses by Their Teeth. Estimating the age of a horse by examining its teeth is a common practice. For very young horses, eruption dates are useful, but in general, the place to start is examination of the occlusal surface of the lower incisors.
