Sailors not authorized to wear the NWU Type II will continue to wear the current tricolor desert camouflage utility uniform in desert environments when issued by authorized command.

NWU III. The Navy officially switched official uniform patterns from the Type I Navy Working Uniform to NWU II and III in 2019. The pattern used for NWU III is the digital AOR-2 pattern, a woodland digital camouflage and is made for wear in woodland, jungle and temperate areas.
