Both that violence and the constant threat of it strongly dissuade women from participating in public life, let alone seeking political office. Although the present discussion has highlighted significant obstacles to women’s equal political participation in the Asia-Pacific, it has also taken note of some encouraging signs coming from the region.
6 Ιαν 2020 · This paper evaluates existing theories regarding women’s participation in top government positions by applying these theories to Asia through a qualitative comparative analysis (QCA). Thus, this paper aims to identify the conditions necessary and/or sufficient for women to break the political glass ceiling in Asia.
