Description. Aspirin extended-release capsules are used to lower risk of heart attack in patients with chronic coronary artery disease, such as patients with history of heart attack or angina (severe chest pain). It is also used to lower risk of recurrent stroke in patients who had an ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack.
Low-dose aspirin (81 mg/day) prophylaxis is recommended in women at high risk of preeclampsia and should be initiated between 12 weeks and 28 weeks of gestation (optimally before 16 weeks) and continued daily until delivery.
