You need to start the game, choose profile, options -> customize controls. Then choose Controller (XBOX 360 for windows). Also try this in steam: View -> Big picture mode -> Settings -> Controller settings -> XBOX configuration support.

Head over to http://www.x360ce.com/ and download the latest version for 32-bit games, extract it and place the "x360ce" file in your Assassin's Creed/Assassin's Creed II install directory. \steamapps\common\Assassin's Creed.
25 Μαρ 2020 · The 3.5 mm audio jack doesn't seem to be working in none of the 3 controllers I have. I have tested with different headsets / controller combinations. There seems to be similar issues after software updates posted on the forum but with no solutions.
AC1 and 2 have problems with newer Xbox controllers where the triggers don't work. Install that fix and it should work, although there's no controller support on the main menu, so you'll have to use a keyboard and mouse to switch to controller on start up.
