I found a surprise fix for my wireless controller. (china controller, with xbox mapping) After starting the game, hold the controller's PAIR/POWER button until the game shows a message that a new controller was registered. Afterwards it worked properly. (Tested on Windows 11)
If you search on Steam (specifically in the “Guides” section of the community hub) you should find a fix for this titled “Xbox Controller Fix”. I replayed all of the games recently and I needed to find fixes for various things.
AC: Mirage Xbox/PlayStation Controller Control Schemes. So basically I have the controls as close to a perfect hybrid as I can to mimic the older AC's control schemes. Any other examples of other controller setups would be appreciated, I'm down to see different variations to try out.

Playing ACO over my Steam Link hardware using a PS4 controller over Bluetooth, streamed from a high-end gaming pc. PROBLEM: The game shows the Xbox layout/buttons instead of the PS4 ones. It messes me up constantly.
