Robert Lightner writes: Those who think the sinner must make Christ Lord of his life, or at least promise to do so, before he can be saved make assurance rest on the evidence of a surrendered walk. MacArthur cites this as the only way a believer can be assured of his or her salvation.
4 Ιουν 2013 · In our text, he wants us (4:13) to “know that we abide in Him and He in us….”. In 4:12, John mentions God’s abiding in us. Then in 4:13, 15, & 16, he repeats the same truth in terms of mutual abiding, God in us and we in God. John wants to give us assurance of this mutual abiding relationship.
26 Ιουλ 2024 · If you have Jesus, you have life. Not temporary life, but eternal. And, according to 1 John 5:13, you can know that you have this eternal life. God wants us to have assurance of our salvation. We should not live our Christian lives wondering and worrying each day whether we are truly saved.

(1 John 4:13-15) Assurance of the work of the Triune God in us. By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world.
