MARATHON AND HALF MARATHON. THE ATHENS MARATHON IS OHIO'S LONGEST RUNNING MARATHON. COME TAKE PART IN A HISTORIC RACE THAT'S HELD IN BEAUTIFUL ATHENS, OHIO! That's right, the Athens Marathon has been around a long time! We are proud to have such a historic endurance event in our hometown.
About. Get ready to lace up your running shoes for a legendary race experience at Ohio's enduring marathon tradition, now in its 58th year! Our equally esteemed Half Marathon is celebrating its 33rd anniversary. Set your alarms for a bright and early start at 8:00 AM, Sunday, April 13, at the corner of South College Street and East Union Street.
Both the marathon and half-marathon races start together at the corner of South College Street and East Union Street in uptown Athens by Ohio University College Green. Both races will join the scenic Hockhocking Adena Bikeway just after the first mile.

OFFICIAL REGISTRATION PERIOD & DEADLINE. The Official Registration Period for the 2024 Athens Half Marathon will be completed by 25 February at the latest. In case the participation limit of the races is met before that date, registrations will close automatically.
