    Droughts in Georgia are not uncommon, and Georgia and surrounding states are the most likely areas in the eastern U.S. to experience severe and persistent droughts. This includes the record-breaking droughts of 2006–2008 and 2010–2012, as well as shorter droughts in 2016–2017 and 2019.
