Atorvastatin is medication used to lower cholesterol and triglycerides (fats) levels to help prevent prevent heart disease, angina (chest pain), strokes, and heart attacks. Atorvastatin calcium belongs to a class of medications called HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (statins).
For oral dosage form (tablets and suspension): For high cholesterol: Adults—At first, 10 or 20 milligrams (mg) once a day. Some patients may need to start at 40 mg per day. Your doctor may increase your dose as needed. However, the dose is usually not more than 80 mg per day.

The 10 mg tablets are white to off-white, film-coated, oval, unscored tablets debossed with 10 on one side of the tablet and blank on the other side.
