  1. James Berry is the author of several books of poetry and childrens literature, including A Story I Am In: Selected Poems (Bloodaxe Books, 2011), Windrush Songs (Bloodaxe Books, 2007), and Only One of Me: Selected Poems (Macmillan, 2004). He lived in England until his death on June 20, 2017.

    One of the first black writers to achieve wider recognition, he was awarded an OBE in 1990 and was a strong advocate for young black writers. He divided his time between Great Britain and Jamaica until his death in 2017.
