10 Σεπ 2018 · My issue is that at random times, AutoCAD will freeze for anywhere from 1-10 minutes and just ramp up RAM usage. The only way to relieve the allocation is to completely shut down the program. Closing individual drawings changes nothing. Here is a screenshot of it happening.

If you notice increased hard drive activity, it means that physical memory has been exceeded and data is being passed to a swap file (virtual memory). A swap file is an area on the hard drive that the operating system uses as if it were physical memory (RAM).
8 Μαρ 2012 · AutoCAD will only use what it needs; you can't force it to use more or less RAM. Do you have hardware acceleration enabled or disabled? Are you working with 2D, 3D or a combination of drawings?
