Hi Reddit, hope you had a good Christmas break. I got into watches recently and currently looking into the affordable Seiko 5 line since I'm still a student and only work part-time. My only concern is the 7s26 movement which I've heard mixed reviews about its accuracy.
6 Ιαν 2013 · I have found my 7s26 to be very stable and consistent with a propensity to lose a couple of seconds a week. Whereas my 4r36 has a propensity to gain time in equal measure, perhaps faster than the 7s26. Either way I am happy with both as they outperform my more expensive watches (IWC & Oris) for solid reliability.....so far...
The Seiko caliber 7S26 is an automatic movement used in many popular Seiko divers and the entry level Seiko 5 watches. This movement was first released to the market in 1996. The most recent tech sheets found were dated 2011.
Movement is very nice, sturdy and long lasting to say the least. Regarding accuracy it's upto luck, I have a skx007 with 7S26 of course and I got lucky, it holds time very well, under a minute lost in almost three weeks, which is really good in my opinion.
