8 Μαρ 2018 · If you wind the watch by hand a lot, I would not delay in getting it fixed - you are only going to cause more problems by hand winding it. Note that this fault doesn't affect the ability of the watch to wind via the rotor.
When I tried to manually wind the watch via the crown, it wound normally for 2-3 turns and then became more resistant and I could feel the rotor turn with each wind of the crown from then on. Does anyone have any insight to what's going on?
automatic watches work by a rotor turning to wind the mainspring, but that does not mean that to wind the main spring it should be done via the rotor. if you were to only able to wind a watch by shaking it, it will likely break over time
21 Μαΐ 2022 · But, that's not the normal state of an automatic watch, or at least shouldn't be. If you either wind it fully to start with, or wear it for a few hours, it'll stabilize around the top 25% or so of power storage, and that will calm the rotor motion, and noise, significantly.
10 Μαρ 2020 · I have a few automatic watches that I wind by wiggling the watch in a circular motion to get the rotor to spin. Is it recommend to make the rotor spin slowly? If the rotor spins too fast, will that cause unnecessary wear on the internal winding mechanics?
