19 Σεπ 2010 · Try to manually wind the watch in vertical position, if the rotor still spins despite of its weight, there is a defect on the auto winding mechanism.

5 Απρ 2013 · To be clear we are talking about the rotor attached to the movement and not the crown on the side of the case. What did and didn't work when it died. Did it stop ticking and the rotor would not turn? Or did it continue ticking while the rotor was not turning.
The rotor inside an automatic watch can sometimes become loose, causing noise or reduced winding efficiency. Solution: Professional Adjustment: If you hear unusual noises from the rotor, have a watchmaker inspect and secure it properly.
automatic watches work by a rotor turning to wind the mainspring, but that does not mean that to wind the main spring it should be done via the rotor. if you were to only able to wind a watch by shaking it, it will likely break over time

10 Δεκ 2013 · So, had the same problem with two ETA 2824-2 and one Sellita SW200-1. The symptom is the same: when I manually wind the watch, the rotor spins hectically and the watch also vibrates. I have about 40 watches in total (mixed quartz/auto collection) and I wind my auto watches every morning.
26 Μαΐ 2018 · When the rotor (17) spins CW it causes the pinion (15) to revolve CCW. This causes one reverser (13) to spin CW, while the rotational force of the pinion (15) pushes the pivoting mobile platform (14) to swivel so the reverser (13) contacts the winding wheel (9) and spins (9) CCW.
