AVA is the world’s only tuition-free institution solely dedicated to the training of opera soloists. Additionally, AVA independently fosters a deep appreciation for opera in the greater Philadelphia region and consistently attracts devoted audiences to sold-out, in-house productions year after year.
First-time visitors often admire the striking interior spaces of the Academy of Vocal Arts at 1920 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, PA. Fanciful carved flowers and leaves, leaded glass transoms, rare mahogany woodwork, and massive carved pilasters evoke delight in many of AVA’s Opera Theatre patrons.
The Academy of Vocal Arts (AVA) is a private, post-baccalaureate opera school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As of 2023, the AVA does not grant degrees, but rather Artist Diplomas to those who complete the full four year course requirement.
