For the 12 months ending in December 2020, the city's private sector payroll jobs fell by 560,100, a decrease of 13.5 percent. Employment at the national level shrunk 6.1 percent during the period. Table 1 summarizes city, state, and federal payroll employment data.
26 Ιουν 2017 · As Table 6 shows, average real wages (wages adjusted for inflation) for City residents fell 1.7% between 2008 and 2010, but increased 13.2% from 2010 to 2015 (the latest year for which this data is available) for a net gain of 11.3% from 2008 to 2015.
Employed residents increased by 259,400, while the number of unemployed residents fell by 19,300. Private sector payroll fell by 532,500 from March 2020 to March 2021, a decrease of 13.2 percent. Private sector jobs fell by 4.3 percent nationwide.

A majority — 33 out of 51 — of large metro areas saw average wages go up over the last year. Columbus, OH had the largest increase, with wages going up 6.2%, while Oklahoma City had the biggest decrease, seeing wages drop 3.3%.

In total, employment reached 4.6 million jobs in 2019, more than at any time in the City’s history. In 2019, job growth was concentrated in three employment sectors (see Figure 3), with health care accounting for 40 percent of the jobs added. Growth was also strong in business services and social assistance.
