Apply electronically through www.ReserveCalifornia.com instead of by mail for the fastest review time. To qualify for the pass, all applicants (veterans) must attach the items specified in 1,2, & 3 of Section B.
For DISABLED WAR VETERANS, please include all of the following: 1. Proof of service during VA recognized wartime periods, with service dates listed (e.g. DD Form 214, Certificate of release, or Summary of Benefits Letter )
This free pass entitles the bearer to free vehicle day use, family camping and boat use at over 100 California State Parks-operated units. WHO QUALIFIES Honorably discharged veterans who have California residency, and one of the following three criteria/criterion:
Status Verification Form for the new California Veteran Designation on your driver’s license and also issues Veteran I.D. cards to honorably discharged veterans.
California residents that are qualified disabled war veterans, former prisoners of war or recipients of the Medal of Honor are eligible to receive a Distinguished Veteran Pass, which entitles the holder to the use of all basic State Park System operated facilities, at no further charge. No fee is required to obtain this pass.
Download and complete a Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) application. Submit proof of service-connected disability rated at 50% or greater or provide documentation showing status as a former Prisoner of War or Medal of Honor recipient status along with a copy of the Veteran's California Driver's License and a completed DPR Form DPR 619.
