14 Φεβ 2024 · Also known as Aztec sweet herb (sometimes spelled sweetherb), honeyherb, Mayan mint, yerba dulce, bushy lippia, or Mexican lippia, Phyla dulcis (syn. P. scaberrima or Lippia dulcis) is an herbaceous perennial native to the Caribbean Islands, Central America, Colombia, Mexico, and Venezuela.
Terra cotta planters have been a favorite with gardeners for a long time. They are especially useful if you tend to overwater plants because their porous nature makes overwatering nearly impossible. Their unglazed nature allows air to get into the soil, helping your plants to thrive.
Aztec sweet herb (Lippia dulcis) is a heat-loving perennial herb from the Verbenaceae family. It’s also called Mexican lipia, bushy lipia, and honey herb. Its use has been recorded at least as far back as 1570.
Terra cotta pots are traditional, attractive, and affordable. The porous sidewalls allow excellent air movement in and out of the container, drying the soil out quickly. Because of this, clay pots work well for herbs that prefer drier conditions, such as lemon balm or lavender.
