Macrocephaly means your baby’s head is larger than other babies of the same age and sex. Having a larger head size can be harmless, if a larger head size is a family trait, or it can be a sign of a serious medical condition.
Many people with abnormally large heads or large skulls are healthy, but macrocephaly may be pathological. Pathologic macrocephaly may be due to megalencephaly (enlarged brain), hydrocephalus (abnormally increased cerebrospinal fluid ), cranial hyperostosis (bone overgrowth), and other conditions.

The most common variety is a benign condition running in families and without any clinical significance.
