24 Νοε 2024 · Ballpoint pens have smooth ink that’s resistant to drying and wonderfully responsive to different levels of pressure. Unfortunately, they also tend to suddenly stop working. If you’ve tried scribbling in circles on a piece of scrap paper with no success, don’t give up on your pen just yet.
I've seen a lot of posts saying it's impossible to revive a dry ball point pen if the ink is so dry that the typical tips (like "write on rubber," "heat it with a lighter," etc) don't work... but I had some very old pens with unusual ink colors that I wanted to keep, so I experimented a bit and figured it out!
10 Δεκ 2014 · Ballpoint pens work by using a small rotating metal ball to transfer ink from the internal reservoir to the paper, and over time ink can gum up the ball preventing it from rolling. All you need to do is soften the ink and your pen will work again!

4 ημέρες πριν · If your ballpoint pen has dried-up ink, applying a bit of heat can soften the ink and get it flowing again. You can do this by holding the pen tip under warm water for a few seconds or using a hairdryer on low heat.
12 Φεβ 2022 · The forces resulting will push the ink to the point (be sure to orient the pen properly) and ideally force it out in such a manner as to resolve the problem. This also works for not-completely-dry felt tip pens, although the failure rate is higher.
The main reason why ballpoint pens dry out is due to air exposure. When exposed to air, the ink hardens and clogs the pen’s tip. Air bubbles can form in the ink cartridge and prevent ink from flowing to the tip. Heat or cold can also alter the consistency of the ink and cause it to dry out or thicken.
