3 Ιαν 2016 · If there is a wall, set the plates and critically, accurately, measure the distance from the plates to the beam and add 1/8" and cut 2 2X6s to that length. This will allow the plates to compress a little and hopefully raise the beam a smidgeon too.
A wooden plate must be secured to the top of the beam with powder-actuated fasteners to provide a nailing surface for the floor joists. Also, many municipalities require that steel I-beams be enclosed in fire-code drywall before the house can be occupied.

If using 4 ply 10×12 LBL beams and need two HSS posts on each end, how to attached the beams for HSS posts and the HSS posts to floor? This is for a ground floor with roof on top and basement. Support LVL beams will be added to basement directly underneath beams on ground.
