29 Ιαν 2024 · Consider us your very own Professor Oak, as this beginner's guide will get you started with learning how to play the Pokémon Trading Card Game, from picking up the basic rules of attacking and status effects to getting to grips with how evolutions work.
STEP 1. • Draw 7 cards. ( If you don’t draw a Basic Pokémon, see page 28) STEP 2. Play a Basic Pokémon to the Active Spot. This will be your Active Pokémon when you start the game! STEP 3. Set aside 6 cards from the top of your deck. These are your Prize cards!
These rules will tell you everything you need to play the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Your deck of cards represents your Pokémon as well as items and allies that help you on your adventures. Trading card games are strategy based and use collectible cards to let each player customize their game.

While the other two types are technically not absolutely needed, you cannot play without a Pokemon card in your deck.
