Open tunings or alternate tunings can also allow for some monophonic lines to be more easily played and can be used to allow open strings to be incorporated.
First of all, here is a bass guitar notes chart that shows where to find every single note on the fretboard: A 4-string bass with 24 frets has 96 fretted notes. If we count the 4 open strings as well, it has exactly 100 notes.
The most common type of bass is a four (4) string bass which will have corresponding bass sting notes. When a string is played without any fingered notes on the fingerboard, these notes are called Open Strings. These 4 notes are E, A, D, G
