Only $2675 complete; long wing, 40-hp Hirth engine, even the paint! (Short wing also, $200 extra.) The BD-5B flight-test model with 55-hp engine costs $290 extra (see spec chart). The 70-hp engine costs $430 more. But wait a moment, there's a catch. You have to build the BD-5 yourself out of a zillion bits and pieces.
Originally priced at $1,799, the base price was raised to $2,599 with the 55 hp Hirth, and owners were offered a "trade up" for the difference in price if they had ordered the aircraft with the original 40 hp engine.
The cost is approximately $195,000 (USD), including jet engine, engine installation, basic instruments and trailer. The cost will vary somewhat depending upon exchange rate, instruments and accessories. Refer to the BonusJet page under Microjet Aircraft for what is included.

The BD-5 was designed in 1973, and proved to be an extremely popular aircraft. The BD-5 is small and lightweight, and can be either single seat propeller or jet driven. The jet version is listed in the Guinness book of records as the world's smallest jet.
