The BJCP Scoresheet Guide is a rubric for BJCP Judging Exam graders and a training tool for current and aspiring judges. While originally developed for the BJCP Beer Judging Exam, the methodology applies to each type of judging exam.

Descriptor Definitions (Mark all that apply): ¤ Acetaldehyde - Green apple-like aroma and flavor. ¤ Alcoholic - The aroma, flavor, and warming effect of ethanol and higher alcohols. Sometimes described as “hot”.

BJCP Scoresheet Components. The five components of beer scoresheets evaluated on the BJCP Beer Judging Exam are Scoring Accuracy, Perception, Descriptive Ability, Completeness and Communications, and Feedback. These competencies are discussed below, and guidelines are given for achieving proficiency in each.
