In this light, correlates of paranormal belief are surveyed in the domains of demographic variables, other beliefs and activities, cognitive variables, and personality. Particular emphasis is given to the need for a theory of the psychodynamic functions served by paranormal belief.
23 Ιουν 2021 · This study describes the construction and validation of a new scale for measuring belief in paranormal phenomena. The work aims to address psychometric and conceptual shortcomings associated with existing measures of paranormal belief.
Possible reasons for belief in the paranormal are discussed and two hypotheses suggested. The first - that some belief in psi arises from misjudgments of probability - predicts more errors in probability tasks among believers (sheep) than disbelievers (goats). 27 Απρ 2021 · To address this key gap in research, we use an original dataset and apply the theory of self-control to the understanding of paranormal beliefs. Overall, the data demonstrates that the majority of respondents in our sample report belief in at least one paranormal phenomenon.
