This, to our knowledge, offers the first explicit empirical test of the predictions of the model.
It was concluded that belly dance represents an embodying activity, one associated with a number of benefits for its practioners, including positive body image.
In modern times, belly dance has been reported to enhance physical fitness and also offer psychological benefits such as increased self-esteem, improved body concept, and enhanced creative expression.
