12 Μαρ 2011 · Indonesian specialties remain a little exotic to many American palates. But at Bentara, the coconut curries, tantalizing spice blends and unfamiliar menu names are well worth searching out.
Bentara is a swanky Malaysian restaurant with food that's decent, but not great. They don't have a ton of vegan options, but there are a few. We started off with the crispy spring rolls ($5.50) and the tofu sumbat ($7) as appetizers.

Nasi Goreng. Stir fried rice with bean sprouts, cabbage, shredded carrots, yu choy and scrambled egg flavored with soy sauce, tomato sauce, garlic, onions and topped with condiments.
It has been one of my favorite restaurants in New Haven since it opened in 9th Square. The noodle soups pack a punch if they are prepared correctly and how you order them and at $8 (for lunch) they are an awesome bargain.
