30 Αυγ 2024 · This 2024 guideline, developed by a multidisciplinary Task Force, updates the 2018 ESC/ESH guidelines on the management of arterial hypertension, using the most robust contemporary evidence.
The guideline provides new recommendations on the threshold for the initiation of pharmacological treatment for hypertension, as well as recommendations on intervals for follow up, target blood pressure to be achieved for control, and the cadre of health care workers who may initiate treatment.
1 Απρ 2021 · Clinician therapeutic inertia, defined as suboptimal prescription of antihypertensive therapy, has been identified as a major barrier preventing patients with hypertension from achieving their guideline-recommended BP goals.
All adults with hypertension, defined by an average systolic BP (SBP) ≥130 mm Hg or diastolic BP (DBP) ≥80 mm Hg, are recommended nonpharmacological therapy according to this guideline. However, not all adults with hypertension are recommended to initiate antihypertensive medication.
The ISH 2020 guidelines were developed based on evidence criteria (i) to be used globally, (ii) to be fit for application in low-middle-income and high-income settings, and (iii) to be concise, simple, and easy to use by clinicians, nurses, and community health workers, as appropriate.
