The Bering Sea (/ ˈ b ɛər ɪ ŋ, ˈ b ɛr ɪ ŋ / BAIR-ing, BERR-ing, US also / ˈ b ɪər ɪ ŋ / BEER-ing; [1] [2] [3] Russian: Бе́рингово мо́ре, romanized: Béringovo móre, IPA: [ˈbʲerʲɪnɡəvə ˈmorʲe]) is a marginal sea of the Northern Pacific Ocean.
20 Οκτ 2024 · The sea’s deepest point, 13,442 feet (4,097 metres), is in the Bowers Basin. The continental crust is more than 12 miles thick along the shallow shelves and in the Aleutian Islands. The thickness decreases in the slope areas, and in the deep part of the sea the crust is 6 to 9 miles thick.
