Yes, there is little room for error using a tighter choke, however, it will make you a better pointer/shooter in the long run. For singles and handicap, I shoot a .038" choke, and for doubles I shoot a .020/.034" choke setup....

17 Αυγ 2019 · Doesn't matter if you are shooting 16 yards from the trap house or 27 yards or 50 yards (games), you should choke for the distance the target is when you break it. Most trapshooters will do as well with a Mod choke from the 16 as with a Full.
Full chokes are generally best for longer distances in trap shooting. Understanding your shooting style is crucial when selecting a choke. Quality chokes can improve accuracy and consistency. Personal experience and testing are invaluable in finding the ideal choke.
4 Αυγ 2022 · A full choke will push the bird as it breaks telling you if you’re behind, shooting high etc. Most targets are broke 20 yds past the house. 16 yard line plus 20 yds past the house is a long shot. Many new shooters wait to long and the target is 50-60 yards away and dropping.

2 Αυγ 2013 · I always enjoy hearing choke preferences from shooters with D Singles averages. Big Leo says FULL. There are differences in pattern quality with chokes marked MOD. I prefer smoke with a Wilkinson .024 choke but broke my highest Singles average (98.28) with factory FULL (.034).
