Are the concrete sealers better? I decided to seal my pool-side Travertine, because I get loads of bat droppings, berries and even the gum tree leaves stain when they get wet. I used Sure Seal 24/7 Stone Sealer. Water-based penetrating type. Really expensive, I think I paid around $300 for 8 litres to do my 80m2.

For best results you need both. Penetrating sealer protects the concrete from water permeating in and damaging it from within. Topical or surface sealer forms a protective barrier and will reduce staining and wear & tear.

Oils, acids and abrasion eventually alter the surface appearance. That said, I used acrylic concrete sealer since it's not so heat sensitive as epoxy-based sealers. I recently re-sealed them with Cheng's concrete sealer (available on Amazon and elsewhere) and have been fairly happy with the results.
