Among my favorite islands (there is no one "best") are: Crete -- specifically Chania and Rethymnon old towns, the history, ruins, food, mountains and sea. Naxos - again the old town, the great beaches, history, food, mountain villages.

1 Φεβ 2024 · Aegina is a very good option, especially as it has one of the best preserved temples in the islands. However, I'd recommend Poros. Accommodations are reasonable with great views over the water. It's also an ideal base for relatively easy day trips.
