18 Φεβ 2022 · Serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SRI) medications are well established as first-line pharmacotherapeutic treatment for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). However, despite the excellent safety profile and demonstrated ef-ficacy of these medications, a substantial proportion of individuals with OCD fail to attain sufficient benefit from SRIs.
Clomipramine, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, paroxetine, and sertraline are approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for treatment of OCD. Strong evidence, including from controlled trials, supports using CBT that relies primarily on the behavioral technique of exposure and response prevention (ERP).
