15 Μαρ 2018 · My first choice of translation is Alan Jones’s The Qur’an (pictured on the right). Jones gives us a readable translation that avoids modernizing quite consistently.
Wa’alaykumsalam wa rahmatullah, I pray you are well, by Allah’s grace. As you noted, there are numerous translations of the Qur’an with differences, whether linguistic, stylistic or substantive. There is no “King James Version” of the Qur’an as there is of the Bible.
If you want simple, easy to understand language with little bias, MAS Abdul Haleem's is a good choice. If you prefer a translation that tries to emulate the poetic nature of the Quran in Arabic, AJ Arberry is an excellent choice - I've been reading this one myself.
