I've had good luck with downloading CC recommended by trusted YouTubers and from reputable Edit: hit go by accident 😅 reputable content creators. If you watch YouTube vids and spend time here, you learn which creators are the most recommended and safe
For bigger mods, they are often on specific websites. Like all the nraas mods. https://www.nraas.net/community/Mods-List. Nexus is a good address as well https://www.nexusmods.com/thesims3. For Custom Content they are different tumblr sites I think.
