You can make a solo build on any class as well though, but some will have better sustain than others. Cleric, Favored Soul, Paladin, Bard and Druid are all very straightforward picks with very obvious self healing routes.

I'd say three popular choices right now are Paladin, Barb, and Wizard EK/PM. All three are THF which gives you good AOE melee, all three have strong defense, all three can self-heal in some fashion. Of the three I'd put Paladin first since its slightly less gear-dependent than EK/PM and peaks a little sooner than Barb.
Rogue is a good solo class, other than arti it is the only class that can take down traps. It's high damage, and decent survivability with light armor. Alchemist is a great solo class, except no trapping.
