Madeline Island is the largest island in the Apostle Island chain. Big Bay State Park is a popular camping ground with great attractions including a beautiful beach, a lagoon, bogs, stunning views of the ocean, sandstone bluffs, and lush vegetation.
The Wisconsin DNR administers Big Bay State park. As such, a vehicle admission sticker or a day use pass are required for both day visitors and those hoping to camp. While leashed pets are allowed in the park and campground, no animals are allowed on the beach.

We love camping at Big Bay Sate Park, it is clean, well managed, nice shady spots, paved roads (great if you have kids with), the most beautiful sandy beach, and great hiking trails. You also need to explore the cliffs and be amazed at the clear water.
The park is open year-round, though winter visitation is mostly limited to hunters, snowshoers, and cross-country skiers. [2] All vehicles are required to purchase an admission pass, though pedestrians and bicyclists may enter free.
