All of the working dogs are rescues; Reed, Chip, and Aspen come to Governors Island from the Mid-Atlantic Border Collie Rescue, a boutique breed-specific rescue uniquely qualified to improve the lives of misplaced border collies by placing them into homes matching the individual needs of each dog.

23 Ιαν 2022 · Owners and their four-legged friends can enjoy all of the island on leashes, or dogs can run free at the new fenced-in dog park behind Liggett Terrace toward the center of the island.
Start your trip to Governors Island by taking a quick ferry ride from either Lower Manhattan or Brooklyn Bridge park. Once you arrive, head to one of the three Citi Bike Stations on the island and use your bike key or pre-purchased ride pass to begin.
Dogs are allowed on Governors Island daily during all regular hours from November 1 to April 30. In accordance with NY State law, only service dogs are allowed on Governors Island other days and times. Dogs must remain on a leash, including while on Trust for Governors Island operated ferries.
19 Ιαν 2022 · Those visiting the Island for Dog Days will be allowed to bring their leashed dogs on the Governors Island ferry every Saturday from 7am to 3pm through the end of April.
