Ustrasana Camel Pose: A deep dive into heart opening and spinal mobility in the 26+2 Bikram Yoga series. Essential techniques revealed.
Camel Pose is the deepest backward bend of the series. There are two steps, depending on your spine flexibility. The first is to keep your hands at the base of the spine, and press your hips forward while squeezing your elbows together.
Camel pose is the last and deepest backward bend we do in class, also known as ‘the healer of the spine’. In this posture we are trying to create an even backward bend in all parts of the spine, not just the easy parts to bend backward, like the lower back or the neck.
Bikram Yoga Positions. Standing Poses (Note: All the poses are repeated twice. The room is at around 100-Fahrenheit degrees) Standing Deep Breathing Pose. Half Moon Pose and hands to Feet – Ardha-Chandrasana and Pada-Hastasana. Awkward Pose – Utkatasana. Eagle Pose – Garurasana.
