As this brief description of our theory implies, the causes of male and female behavior range from more proximal, or immediate, to more distal, or ultimate.
In this paper, we pose the biosocial turn – what Dorothy Roberts (2016) calls “the new biosocial science” – as an opportunity to creatively expand the range of empirical inquiries into gender as a biosocial variable and to newly articulate the importance of attending to gender in biological science.
